Meeting Joan Rosenfels

I recently went to audit a class at Joan Rosenfels acting studio. It was so exciting and inspiring to participate in a creative environment with fellow actors. After a couple of exercises to get the creative juices flowing the students worked on scenes/monologues/improvisations they had prepared for class. I saw fantastic work being done and Joan asks wonderful questions to get everyone to learn collectively so that everyone is doing their best work.

After auditing her class I set up an appointment to audition for her studio. The audition was wonderful in the sense that Joan asked great questions to help me reveal my authentic self. It was a very eye opening session in which I learned many things but the top three were: 1. That I am courageous. 2. When I tell my personal story I drop into my authentic self. 3. I should allow myself to be more curious and less defensive. I look forward to the possibility of working with Joan again in the near future.
